  • I Have Filed for Re-Election!!

It was with great honor and enthusiasm that I filed for reelection for Plano City Council Place 5. Three years ago I asked the citizens of Plano to trust me with their vote. In return, I promised to contribute to the well-being of Plano with integrity, passion, leadership, and vision. I made a commitment to focus on economic development, neighborhood revitalization, and maintenance of high quality services. I am back to help conduct the business of the city. These past three years has been filled with a number of accomplishments that has benefited the citizens of Plano.

    Major Accomplishments...

    • Establishment of the Economic Development Fund. During the fiscal year of 2007, the fund allowed the city to capture business that translated into approximately 2,300 new employees with an average salary of $77,000.
    • Development of a staff task force to enforce building standards within residential neighborhoods that are more than 20 years old. Rigorous enforcement ensures upkeep of older neighborhoods and protection of property values. We expect to expand this program to touch other areas of the city as well.
    • The Plano Fire department, led by Chief Hugo Esparza, is nationally accredited in a number of categories and ranks as one the best in the nation.
    • Ranked 2nd Safest City in Texas and 43rd Safest City in the Nation. These accomplishments were achieved through the leadership of Plano Police Chief Greg Rushin. To ensure continued safety, the 2008 Plano City budget includes funding for over 40 new public safety positions.
    • Member of Texas Council of the Year awarded by the Texas City Management Association

In addition to those accomplishments on council, two personal awards humbled me.

    • Leadership Plano Distinguished Leadership Award in 2007.
    • Father of the Year from the North Suburban Dallas Chapter of Jack & Jill, Inc.

    Going Forward...

My focus for the next three years will be to build on the accomplishments of the past three.

    • Sustaining a strong economic development base through acquisition and retention.
    • Attention to neighborhood and infrastructure maintenance.
    • Continued safety for our citizens.
    • Improved mobility within the city and regionally.

My commitment to keeping Plano a community of excellence has not wavered. I will continue to serve with the energy and passion that I have displayed during the past 14 years of community service.

In order to conduct the business of the city I will need your help. I invite you to my Campaign Kick-Off Party on March 26 from 5:30 PM - 7:00 PM at the Art Centre of Plano. Additionally, I welcome your assistance in helping me with my campaign via time, energy, or resources. Visit me at www.planopride.org to find out how you can contribute to be part of PLANO PRIDE!!!!

See you along the campaign trail!
